It’s about consent. And that’s important, I think.

AI crawlers trawled the internet before anyone had the chance to say yes or no to their stuff being sucked up into the big machine.

Everything that you have ever published on the internet may as well belong to OpenAI at this point.

There is no way to get it back (I dare you to try). Only to stop it from happening again.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure some people will be thrilled that their products or services could be given a shout-out to a potential customer by ChatGPT.

In fact, I would place a bet that within the next year, there will be an industry for Generative-AI-Crawler-Optimisation. I even intend to be part of it.

But before we get there, we need a consent layer between what is published and what is for the taking.
